Latency Or Truth

A read issued right after a successful write can return the older value even though nothing is partitioned

Writes on the minority side of a partition are rejected so that exactly one copy of the truth survives

During a partition both sides keep taking writes and the divergence is reconciled after the link returns

With a healthy network it replicates asynchronously by default, acknowledging a write before every replica holds it

Reads are linearizable whenever no partition is in progress, since the else branch only relaxes write ordering
