Branch Target Buffer

The branch predictor predicts whether a branch is taken or not. What additional problem does the Branch Target Buffer (BTB) solve?

It prevents speculative execution past branch instructions

It caches the branch condition so it doesn't need to be recomputed

It stores the target address of previously taken branches
