When you type a URL in your browser, what is the order of DNS resolution steps?

The ISP resolves all hostnames from a single global lookup table

Browser cache → OS cache → recursive resolver → root server → TLD server → authoritative server

Root server → TLD server → authoritative server → OS cache → browser cache

Browser sends the hostname directly to the authoritative server
